NATO: Environmental Security Challenge growing
The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) is ready to respond to public concern over environmental changes, according to a top official.
Jean-Francois Bureau, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General, told delegates at a NATO Security Science Forum on 12 March 2008 that „the number of issues related to environment which are also linked to security challenges is growing.“ M. Bureau added that environmental security should be a component of NATO’s strategic defence analysis.
